How many deaths will it take 'till we know
that too many people have died.
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the
wind
The answer is blowin'
in the wind.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired,
signifies in the final sense a theft from those who are hungry and
are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed."- Dwight D. EisenhowerThere never was a time, in my opinion, when a problem could not be solved without the drawing of a sword.
General Ulysses S. Grant, President of the United States, 1885
The one thing I never want to see again is a military parade.

These are the sentiments of men who have actually been on a battlefield, saw blood spilled and watched other men die.
"Lurking beneath the surface of every society, including ours," he says, "is the passionate yearning for a nationalist cause that exalts us, the kind that war alone is able to deliver." When war psychology takes hold, the public believes, temporarily, in a "mythic reality" in which our nation is purely good, our enemies are purely evil, and anyone who isn't our ally is our enemy.
This state of mind works greatly to the benefit of those in power.
"War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning," an essay on the psychology of war by Chris Hedges, a veteran war correspondent.
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The executive producer of a CBS miniseries about Adolf Hitler's rise to power has been fired after giving an interview in which he compared the current mood of Americans to that of the Germans who helped Hitler rise to power.
The first casuality of war is always the truth.
It's getting harder to ignore. More and more evidence is emerging to suggest that U.S. intelligence was manipulated to justify going to war with Iraq.
The invasion of Iraq was planned a long time in advance, and the United States and Britain are not primarily concerned with finding any banned weapons of mass destruction, the chief UN weapons inspector, Hans Blix, said in an interview on Wednesday. More
Albright calls Cheney charge on terror "irresponsible" --Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney's charge that the United States could be hit by another terrorist attack if Democrat John Kerry is elected president was irresponsible, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said.
Several months ago George Bush was performing his skit for the media in which he was looking under his desk and under chairs for weapons of mass destruction, Here is the president of the United States making a horrible joke out of
a pre-emptive war and laughing about WMDs (weapons of mass destruction), the basis for going to war, a war in which over 1,000 coalition troops have died and thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed.

U.S. Govt Accused of War Crimes against Journalists
International journalists' organizations are accusing the U.S. government of committing war crimes in Iraq by intentionally firing at war correspondents.
"To initiate a war of aggression," said the judges in the Nuremberg trial of
the Nazi leadership, "is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." In stating this guiding principle of international law, the judges specifically rejected German arguments of the "necessity" for pre-emptive attacks against other countries.
U.S. occupation forces commit war crimes with impunity
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."- President Theodore RooseveltWar always comes at a trememdous cost to all who are engaged in battle, We need to ask these basic questions, What is to be gained by war, who will benefit, what will be the cost and who will pay this cost? Click here to find out who is paying the cost for the attack on Iraq and who is profiteering.
Who Wants War?
We support the safe and speedy return
of the troops, without supporting an
unjust and immoral war.
"You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake."Jeanette Rankin (first women member of Congress)
I ask all my readers to avoid any rush to judgement, to avoid any temptation to use this tragic event for bigotry, revenge, profiteering or for short-term political gain.We must take the time, to grasp the gravity of what has happened and why it has happened in order to gain a better understanding of how we can best respond to this horrible tradegy so that we can work toward preventing future acts of violence against innocent civilians.
Killing innocent civilians out of revenge because innocent civilians were killed does not eliminate evil and injustice in the world, it only adds to it by multiplying the suffering, the deaths, the hatred and the desire for revenge. Violence does not lead to peace, it leads away from it.
